Red Cafe

Red Cafe, born Jermaine Denny on September 19th, 1976 is of Afro-Guyanese descent. Coming straight out of Brooklyn, NY Red Cafe is signed to Akon's Konvict Muzik, Diddy's Bad Boy Records and DJ Clue's Desert Storm label. Often you will hear him refer to himself as "R" on many of his songs. Red Cafe began his career in a group called Da Franchise, sometime referred to as just "Franchise". The group consisted of Bed-Stuy artist Gravy and Flatbush rapper Q Da Kid. Due to disagreements in the group, they split up and went separate ways. Over the years Red Cafe signed with various major labels but due to personell changes in the different labels, this would cause his albums not to be released. Red Cafe can be heard on many mixed cd's like Whoo Kid and Kay Slay mixtapes under Franchise. As an underground rapper, his work is not internationally recognized, but he has been rapping since the late 1990s. Recently Red Cafe made a cameo appearance in the biopic "NOTORIOUS" playing primo in which he battled biggie at the age of 17.
